Ecodemy Education Inc. Accessibility Policy

1. Introduction

At Ecodemy Education Inc. (Ecodemy), we are committed to providing a universally accessible and inclusive online learning environment for all our students, educators, and staff, regardless of their abilities or backgrounds. This policy outlines our commitment to ensuring that our online platform, services, and operations are as accessible as possible.

2. Purpose

This policy aims to ensure that all individuals have equal access to Ecodemy’s online learning materials, regardless of any disability or impairment. We recognize the importance of inclusion and the benefits it brings to our learning community.

3. Scope

This policy applies to all Ecodemy operations, including our online platform, courses, communications, and other related services.

4. Commitment

Ecodemy commits to:

  1. Continuous Improvement: Regularly reviewing and updating our online platform and content to meet accessibility standards.
  2. Training: Ensuring that our staff and educators are trained on accessibility best practices.
  3. Feedback and Communication: Providing clear channels for users to give feedback on accessibility issues and ensuring that such feedback is addressed promptly.
  4. Compliance with Laws: Adhering to the accessibility requirements of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and other relevant legislation.

5. Implementation

  1. Website Accessibility: Ensuring that our online platform is compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, which includes features like text alternatives for visual content, adaptable layouts, distinguishable content, and navigable interfaces.
  2. Course Material: Offering alternative formats for course materials, such as transcripts for video content and alternative text for images.
  3. Assistive Technology: Ensuring compatibility with commonly used assistive technologies like screen readers, magnifiers, and voice recognition software.
  4. Feedback Mechanism: Establishing a dedicated channel, such as an email address or a feedback form, where users can report accessibility issues or request accommodations.

6. Training

All Ecodemy staff and educators will receive training on:

  1. The requirements of accessibility laws in Ontario and other relevant jurisdictions.
  2. The needs of people with various types of disabilities.
  3. How to create and deliver accessible online content.
  4. How to interact and communicate with individuals with disabilities.

7. Feedback

Feedback regarding the way Ecodemy provides its services to people with disabilities can be made through:

8. Policy Review

This policy will be reviewed every two years or as required to ensure it remains relevant and compliant with current laws and best practices.
