Introducing Ecodemy’s latest course: Bioplastics

This course outlines the problem with plastic in general and how we got to where we are now when it comes to plastic use. Participants will explore the basics of bioplastics, the issues and benefits associated as well as some key takeaways.

Bioplastic is a material with similar properties to plastic, but instead of being created from ethylene and propylene, it is created from a renewable biological source. These biological sources are continually being researched and developed, but some of the primary bioplastic sources come from crops like sugarcane, corn, or potatoes. Since they are made from biological materials, these plastics have a higher ability to be recycled naturally through biological processes like composting and biodegradation. They are made from renewable materials, making them a resource we can rely on more dependently than fossil fuels.
