Economics of Recycling Course

Economics of Recycling Training Tool Kit

Ecodemy is pleased to announce our latest course: Economics of Recycling

We toss our plastic, glass, and metal packaging into our blue bins. But what happens after the truck drives away? This course explores the economics of recycling by looking at its history, funding and operation of recycling programs, as well as the costs and benefits. For information on where Ontario is going, check out our course: Ontario’s New Blue Box Program.

One of the most important purposes of recycling is to reuse valuable materials, instead of sending them to landfills. When materials end up in landfills, there is potential to cause harm to our air, soil and groundwater when broken down over time. In a landfill, materials are also more likely to be displaced by wind, wildlife, and water runoff.

Ecodemy’s purpose is to deliver engaging sustainability education tools to build a foundation for a greener future. This Material Supports United Nations Sustainable Development Goals #12.
